Township Clerk Robert DuCharme Deputy Clerk Susan Sauer 145
S. (989) 695-9512 |
The Clerk's office maintains custody of all records, books and papers of the Township. This includes keeping the financial records and safeguarding the minutes of the board meetings, ordinances, and resolutions adopted by the Township Board. By direction of the Township Board the financial reporting and budgeting function has been delegated to the Fiscal Services Director. This portion of the Clerks responsibility is budgeted under the Fiscal Service's account but the responsibility of its accuracy and the withdrawal of bank funds require the signature of both the Clerk and Treasurer. Draft minutes of the Township Board meetings are available within 5 business days for review. Summaries of all meetings are published in a local newspaper. Minutes are uploaded onto this site when available.
The clerk's office also keeps an up-to-date master file of all registered voters and conducts all regular and special elections. The Township currently is divided into 3 voting precincts with a total of 5,526 registered voters. Voting for precinct 1 and 2 are held in the Community Hall, located at the corner of First and Church Street. Precinct 3 is held at the Memorial Park Building at 150 Park. Currently the Township employs one full-time deputy. Approximately 21 election workers are trained to work at all Township elections under the supervision of the Township Clerk. Primary, General, Special, and Township elections are conducted by the Township Clerk's Office. Voter registrations are kept on file in the Township Clerk's office. The deputy clerk currently updates all voter records. The Township is "on line" with the State of Michigan Qualified Voter File (QVF). Voter registration is more accurate and current since QVF has been initiated.
